Mountain Star Capital Ltd is a family-owned investment holding company investing
globally across the full range of asset classes. We are based in Vancouver, Canada.
Our investment portfolio consists of both public and private investments as well as real estate.
Public Market Investing
We focus on achieving long-run capital returns as well as income. Our equity portfolio consists of businesses capable of generating above normal returns on invested capital on a sustainable basis.
Private
Investing
We consider companies at all stages of their development from the start-up phase and extending to late stage rounds. As with our public equity investments, we seek companies with the potential to generate exceptional returns on invested capital over the long-term.
The majority of our investments are passive but for some we take an active role to assist investee businesses to create value using our experiences investing in a wide range of industries globally.
In Canada our private investments are focused mainly on consumer related businesses with the potential to scale globally. We look to create synergies among our investee companies by sharing knowledge and experiences.

Our real estate investment decisions are driven by income with consideration for changes in macro-economic factors.
Some of our real estate investments are made through our joint venture with Alta Lake Capital.

Scott Gibson | Founder & CEO
Scott has over 20 years of global investment experience. He began his career as an equity analyst following consumer related companies in Asia. He later managed a Pan-Asian equity research business for a major European bank. Before establishing Mountain Star Capital he was employed by a US-based multi-billion dollar global emerging market equity hedge fund. During his career he has lived in the UK, Hong Kong, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore and now Vancouver. In addition to managing Mountain Star Capital, Scott provides business consulting services to major financial institutions and smaller businesses in Asia and North America.
